CS2 RUSH: how to play the new 3v3 mode
RUSH puts two teams of three in a fight over a tower, with an enemy castle as the match objective. Here is what to watch for in your first game.

Rules are based on Valve’s official announcement, published September 22, 2026 (UTC). The advice below is our recommendation for new players.
Your first match
- 1 Choose RUSH in matchmaking
If you play with friends, agree who checks the first angle and who follows to trade.
- 2 Read the arena before pushing
Locate the tower, nearby cover and a way out. Keep an eye on the timer before taking a long flank.
- 3 Let the timer inform your next move
As time runs low, check tower control. Chasing the last opponent may pull you away from the objective.
- 4 Plan the next push together
Between rounds, briefly share where you met opponents and which position was left uncovered.
Three useful habits
- Keep tradeable spacing: stay close enough to help a teammate without lining up in the same firing lane.
- Buy for the range you plan to fight at. A familiar weapon is a sensible starting point for your first match.
- Call a specific position and direction. A short call is easier to act on during a fight.

How many players are in RUSH?
Two teams of three: a 3v3 format.
Do you have to eliminate every opponent?
No. Controlling the tower when the timer expires also wins the round.
How does a match end?
By capturing the opposing castle. Round wins let your team advance toward it.
Does RUSH count toward weekly drops?
The RUSH announcement does not clarify this. Playing the mode should not be treated as a separate drop guarantee; see our weekly drop guide for the reward conditions.
