Rare CS2 charm templates

How the template number repaints every charm — with frames from across the whole range.

Every charm in CS2 rolls a template — a number from 0 to 100000. The game feeds it into the charm material and shifts hue, brightness, metalness or glitter. It is not a pattern texture like Case Hardened but a colour recalculation, which is why two copies of the same charm can look nothing alike.

Charm template FAQ

What is a charm template in CS2?

It is a number from 0 to 100000 rolled with the charm and fed into its material. It shifts hue, brightness, metalness or glitter — all 78 charms react to it, some dramatically, some barely at all.

Which templates count as rare?

Rarity is not a separate property, it is the shape of the curve. On charms with a power curve almost the whole range looks identical and the extreme shade only appears near the top of the numbers — that is what people hunt. Even curves have no rare zone: the colour walks smoothly across the range.

Where do I see the template number?

46 of the 78 charms print the number in the item description in game. The rest keep it hidden: the value is pulled out of the inspect link by third-party readers.

Does the template affect a charm price?

Marketplaces do not filter charms by template, so listings ignore it. Only hand-to-hand deals move: a rare number on an expressive charm can carry a premium, but that is a private agreement, not a market rate.
